Yes, it is true we all have data in our businesses. We all want to apply analytics tools to make use of the gigabytes of data that we have collected.

You might be sat reading this and thinking, “yes that is us!”. “We have Salesforce.com, we have a plethora of different data sets, but we can’t really quickly understand the analytics that we have.”

It might not just be customer, contact data, it could be product, assets or even sales and service data. Your marketing teams may have a collection of response data that could be used with location, that could be mapped and viewed by location.

90% of business data can be related back to a customer or prospects address or a given location, and now we can help you create maps with all that data to understand WHERE things are happening and help you trend that activity in real time.

Granted we are not alone, but we are with Mapsimise one of the only ones that you can use your Salesforce credentials and map data in real time with in just a few minutes, no sales team, no need for services, consulting, and setup, you can do it all yourself and plug and play. Making the most of your analytics.

Ok that is the sales pitch over and why you would pick Mapsimise, time, cost effective and easy to use, we say it’s – Your. Data Mapped.

How Mapsimise Can Help Your Team

If you did not know and this is your first visit to Mapsimise then welcome. Today we are looking at connecting and using your Salesforce.com CRM system as a data source so that you can build and create maps around sales, marketing, service, and customer activity. In short, using location intelligence and mapping analytics to boost your business.

But what is Mapsimise, well you might have seen GIS (geographical / geospatial Information system) tools in the past and thought they look complicated, and to be fair most are designed for GIS and data experts along with developers.

Mapsimise has been designed to challenge this and be one of the first to create an easy-to-use solution that enables you to understand quickly and easily what is happening where.  It has been designed for business teams and end users to just use and not need to learn how to.

In this demo blog we are looking at 5 simple steps of connecting and using your salesforce data on a map, to understand customer activity based on location.  We also include a number of videos demos from our popular YouTube channel

So here it is a quick step by step, but if you need more, please do visit our resource or support page

Step 1

So, let’s get started, first let’s show you how to connect with Mapsimise and your Salesforce, all you need is your credentials and your private security key from your settings in Salesforce.

In the video demo below, we step through the steps to get connected.

Support Articles

In these support articles we also show exactly how to get started with your Salesforce.com data.

The connectors work in real time, and there is no synchronisation or copying of data.

Step 2

Once connected let’s take a look at building a map and show you how you can view your customer accounts and contacts, most systems don’t allow you to overlay multiple sets of data, but with Mapsimise you can see relationships, proximity and gain an understanding of customer location, using multiple layers of data.

In this short demo video below, we show how to create a map, adding your salesforce contacts and accounts all by location.

Step 3

Now that you have displayed all your customer accounts and contacts, you may want to identify and filter records by location to track sales ownership and activity by location.

You may want to create and view sales regions or territories and in the following short demo we give an example of how to do this using a KML file of postcodes to create filtered views of accounts by location.

This could be contacts, opportunities or sales orders as related data from your salesforce can also be mapped.

Step 4

Sales regions might not be enough, you may want to filter and segment your Salesforce data in different ways, using location landmarks or just general areas.

Mapsimise is a data platform that enables visualisation and filtering of data, so that you can get the right data by a given location.

In this next short demo video, we are looking at drawing and filtering data by location.  Mapsimise has several drawing tools to enable you to draw and filter data.

Step 5

But we know you might not just want to filter and view data, so with Mapsimise and our Salesforce connector we have created the steps to build campaign lists by location and add members to a campaign in Salesforce.

In this short demo video below, we look at selecting a few contacts naming a new campaign and adding those contacts as members to the campaign list directly in Salesforce.

As you might have seen, Mapsimise brings a new dimension to easily understanding your customer data by location and gaining location intelligence from the data you already have.
